60s GOLD NIGHT CONCERT

STEVE ELLIS (The Love Affair's former lead singer) and NEW AMEN CORNER
Tickets £12.50 (or £15 from May 31). See TICKET BOOKINGS section
at the top on how to purchase your tickets.

We are proud to announce a rare and unique opportunity to see Steve Ellis, THE VOICE of The Love Affair on their smash worldwide number one "Everlasting Love" and other mega hits like "Rainbow Valley", "A Day Without Love", "One Road" and "Bringing On Back The Good Times".

Steve, a Mod icon in the "Swinging Sixties", and The Love Affair sold more singles in Britain in 1968 than any other group apart from The Beatles.

Steve at the Royal Albert Hall in 2004

He was just 17 when "Everlasting Love" hit the top of the charts and with his good looks became a pin-up for the girls, who drowned out many a Love Affair concert with their screaming!

Steve has been hailed as having one of the best voices along with Steve Marriott and Andy Fairweather-Low to come out of the Mod era, and more modern stars like Paul Weller hold him in high regard.

Sidelined for years by a horrific accident to his feet involving a forklift and then a family illness, Steve is now back in top form and teams up with the seven-strong New Amen Corner for what promises to be a night of musical dynamite.

"Arguably the hottest band on the circuit" is how The Beat magazine describes New Amen Corner, who SOLD OUT at Amersham last June when they had Cliff Bennett as their special guest. They packed the dance floor from start to finish with their parade of top hits from the "Summer Of Love" period.

Amen Corner, with their mixture of psychedelic, mod and power pop sounds, enjoyed huge hits towards the end of the 60s with "Bend Me, Shape Me", "If Paradise Is Half As Nice", "High In The Sky", "Hello Suzie" and "Gin House".

The group never got back together after disbanding at the end of the 60s but the clamour from fans persuaded original founder member Alan Jones and sax man Frogman Curtis recently that the time was ripe to revive those marvellous sounds.

Besides the Amen Corner catalogue, the "Corners" -- as they are affectionately known -- also perform hits by other greats such as The Move, The Herd, Manfred Mann, Procul Harum, The Casuals, The Small Faces, Pink Floyd -- and even The Beatles.

New Amen Corner, highly popular at venues round Britain, believe in putting on a concert with a big sound and showmanship.

Add Steve Ellis and you've got the hottest "Summer of Love" show!

60s GOLD NIGHT CONCERT

CHIP HAWKES (the former Tremeloes lead singer) and NEW AMEN CORNER
Tickets £12.50 (or £15 from October 11). See TICKET BOOKINGS section at
the top on how to purchase your tickets.

Put Chip Hawkes together with New Amen Corner and you've got the Show of Shows!

Get ready for a non-stop night of all those wonderful hits from The Tremeloes and Amen Corner plus a whole lot more treasures from the "Summer Of Love" -- one of the hottest periods in pop music.

Chip, still a hit with the ladies with his ever youthful looks, was the front man and lead singer of The Tremeloes when they had that golden stream of hits in the 60s and early 70s.

"Silence Is Golden", "Here Comes My Baby", "Helule Helule", "Even The Bad Times Are Good", "Suddenly You Love Me", "My Little Lady", "Hello World", "(Call Me) Number One", "Me And My Life", "Yellow River" and on and on goes the list!

Amen Corner were one of the biggest influences on the 60s pop scene to ever come out of Wales. With their own brand of West Coast (Wales) music -- a mixture of mod, psychedelic power pop, heavy horns, swirling Hammond organ and the distinctive voice of Andy Fairweather-Low -- their power house live show made them one of the most exciting bands around at the time.

With million-seller hits like "Bend Me Shape Me", "If Paradise Is Half As Nice", "High In The Sky", "Hello Suzie" and "Gin House", they soon became a household names.

Thanks to a long-standing friendship between sax man Frogman Curtis and original founder member Alan Jones, the idea was born to form an official new Amen Corner to keep the memory and music alive of this legendary band.

The musicians of New Amen Corner have a pedigree second to none, with most of the band having gigged around in the 60s and been band members with the likes of Screaming Lord Sutch, Jeff Beck, Alexis Korner, Roy Wood, Robert Plant, Alvin Stardust and Mike Oldfield.

Relive the period of Free Love and Flower Power; from the Mini Skirt to the Mini Car, when Carnaby Street was the Fashion Capital of the world and San Francisco was home to the Flower People. This show is the ultimate 60s experience!)

CHRISTMAS GOLD NIGHT CONCERT

THE RUBETTES
featuring original lead singer Alan Williams

Plus Special Guest JULIE FELIX

Tickets £13.50 (or £15 from November 29). See TICKET BOOKINGS section at
the top on how to purchase your tickets.

Start your Christmas celebrations with a three-hour plus concert starring those icons of 70s Glam Rock, The Rubettes, featuring original lead singer Alan Williams and two other originals in drummer/vocalist John Richardson and bass player/vocalist Mick Clarke.

With their flamboyant Gatsby-style appearance and trademark white caps, The Rubettes stormed to the top of the charts in 1974 with "Sugar Baby Love" and went on to score many other hits round the world like "Juke Box Jive", "Tonight", "I Can Do It", "Foe-Dee-O-Dee", "Little Darling", "You're The Reason Why", "Under One Roof" and "Baby I Know".

You'll want to dance the night away when The Rubettes are in action.

The Rubettes' special guest for this show will be Julie Felix, one of the greatest artists to come out of the folk-rock/protest era and so often hailed as Britain's answer to Joan Baez. That compliment speaks for itself.

Julie, whose biggest hit was the Paul Simon penned "El Condor Pasa", had her own BBC television series and filled the Royal Albert Hall as a solo artist.

The soaring falsetto lead vocal on "Sugar Baby Love" made the pulsating number a true pop music classic that will be forever associated with The Rubettes.

Along with "Juke Box Jive" and the other hits, The Rubettes took the world back to the seemingly halcyon days of the 50s -- and the audiences loved it.

Alan is an immense talent as lead vocalist and front man, but John and Mick are powerhouse performers too. Witness John's lead vocals on "Under One Roof" and his Taiko drum extravaganza.

Today The Rubettes remain arguably the classiest 70s band on the circuit with the three originals joined on keyboards by Mark Haley, formerly of The Kinks.

Julie, who counts Donovan among her close friends, is truly one of the greats of the international folk movement and is passionate about world peace.

Combining fabulous acoustic guitar playing with her exquisite voice -- sometimes tender, sometimes humorous, sometimes passionate -- Julie is widely acclaimed for her interpretations of Bob Dylan's finest numbers like "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall", "Chimes of Freedom", "Mr Tambourine Man" and "Blowin' in the Wind".

But she is also a wonderful songwriter herself, a fact underlined by her prolific output of albums.

Audiences find it hard not to sing along with this captivating star, so this is going to be a night to cherish.

FOR THE ATTENTION OF ARTISTS

Artists wishing to perform at the Club are welcome to phone Ralph Gowling on 01494-874916 or write to him at 24 Northdown Road, Chalfont St Peter, Bucks SL9 0LQ. Please bear in mind we are a small venue, wish to make some sort of profit so we can refurbish to make the club a long-term regular and attractive venue for both artists and audiences, are committed to giving some of our profits to the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home charity, and that we have a policy of pricing shows as modestly as possible. Due to the popularity of the policy in the past we are now offering artists an 80-20 split on ticket sales so both parties work to ensure success. It is obviously more beneficial to artists who can attract a good or full house. All our shows comprise three sets with two 20-minute intervals, both to give our audiences good value and to ensure the charity raffle goes smoothly. This means we need two and perhaps three acts on a bill.

"One of the highlights of my holiday to England was discovering the tiny
but mighty Amersham Rock 'n' Roll Club to see '60s pop stars John Leyton and
Mike Berry, backed by The Outlaws, featuring Colin Pryce-Jones of London's Rapiers,
my favourite band on the planet. A good crowd filled the cozy venue. I particularly liked the pristine sound
and large dance floor. Not to mention two good bars! I left just short of midnight fully delighted"
