It is obviously getting harder with the passing of the years to put original
hit-making artists on stage for our audiences, but here we have one of the
biggest chart stars plus two of the finest bands.
Chris Farlowe is the man with the powerhouse of a voice that propelled"Out Of Time" to the top of the charts all around the world in 1966.

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones wrote the song
especially for Chris, whose thundering and evocative vocal transformed the
number into what is now a 60s classic. Mick believed in Chris and the song
so much that he even acted as producer in the recording studio and supplied
backing vocals.
The summer of 1966 also saw England winning the soccer World
Cup, so "Out Of Time" by Chris and his band, The Thunderbirds,
took on added joyous significance for many people.

Chris had other international hits with the likes of "Satisfaction", "Paint
It Black", "Stormy Monday Blues", "Ride On Baby" and "Handbags And
Gladrags", a song wriitten by Mike d'Abo of Manfred Mann fame that has since
been covered by many artists including The Stereophonics. But Mike wrote it
for Chris and Mr "Out Of Time" was the first to take it into the charts.
"The Voice", as Chris is known by many of his peers in the music business,
went on to further success and cult status with Colosseum and Atomic Roster.

Today, Chris still leaves audiences spellbound -- a fact not lost on Van Morrison who frequently asks Mr "Out Of Time" to do special guest spots on his shows.

Vanity Fare, still boasting three members with roots in the band's heyday,
were huge at the end of the 60s and were particularly popular in the United
States where they had two top five hits.
Stunning vocal harmonies and bouncy and catchy tunes are their trademark, like "Hitchin' A Ride" that became something of an anthem for hippies
catching a lift to the next "Flower Power" gathering.

"Early In The Morning" was an even bigger hit for Vanity Fare in Britain and their first chart entry "I Live For The Sun" had links with The Beach Boys camp. Their run of hits continued into the 70s across the world -- from "Summer Morning" in the United States to "Rock & Roll Is Back" in Germany.

Eddie Wheeler, Mark Ellen, Bernie Hagley and "new boy" Steve Oakman, son of
Pete Oakman of The Bruvvers, know how to get a party going with their own
hits and covers ranging from The Beach Boys' "Barbara Ann" to The Four
Seasons' "Sherry" to The Byrds' "Mr Tambourine Man".

In 2008 and 2009 , Vanity Fare were highly acclaimed in their own right and as the backing band for PJ Proby, Chris Falowe, Brian Poole and Mike Pender on the hugely successful "Oh Boy! It's The Non-Stop Sixties" theatre tour of the UK. This year they have been chosen for the prestigious Solid Silver Tour.

Completing our Valentine's show line-up are The Bruvvers -- yes, Joe Brown's
original group still led by Pete Oakman who wrote Joe's number one "Picture
Of You".
The Bruvvers were one of Britain's first rock 'n' roll bands who helped set
the path for the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and many other bands from the
early 60s.

The Bruvvers and Joe had a string of top 10 hits throughout the 60s. Then in
1970 Pete along with Joe formed Brown's Home Brew which featured Joe's wife
Vicki Brown. In 1972 The Bruvvers, under the name Harley Quinne, had a top
20 hit in the UK with "New Orleans". Pete was also a regular member of
Lonnie Donegan's Skiffle Group.

The Bruvvers' 2001 reunion concert with Joe Brown
Today The Bruvvers feature Pete on bass/vocals, John Clare on lead guitar/vocals, Pete's son Steve on keyboards/vocals and former Leo Sayer and Thunderclap Newman drummer Chris Hunt.

The Bruvvers' leader Pete Oakman, who wrote Joe Brown's chart-topper "A Picture Of You"
This is a hat-trick of the finest 60s stars who will have you up dancing, tapping your feet or singing along. Don't miss this spectacular concert!

JOE MEEK - THE FAREWELL CONCERT
JOHN LEYTON, MIKE BERRY and Star Guest
CHARLIE GRACIE from the United States, and THE FLAMES
Plus Special Guest CLEM CATTINI, the original leader
of THE TORNADOS of "Telstar" fame, BOBBY RIO,
THE SAINTS, THE TRIUMPHS and ROBB SHENTON (Compere).
*** SOLD OUT *** SOLD OUT *** SOLD OUT ***
In association with the Joe Meek Society and Lone Rider Records, we are delighted to present this fabulous three-hour-plus show paying tribute to the legendary Joe Meek.
Joe produced some of the finest records to come out of the 60s -- from "Johnny Remember Me" to "Telstar" to "Just Like Eddie" to "Tribute To Buddy Holly" to "Wild Wind" to "Have I The Right" and many, many more.
Age is inevitably taking a heavy toll now on the stars of the 60s, so this is likely to be the last time we can put together such a wonderful tribute to Joe featuring some of the top artists from the maverick producer's RGM stable who recorded in that now famed studio in a flat above a leather shop in London's Holloway Road.
Rob Bradford, the internationally acclaimed music writer and researcher who has specialised in Joe's story and musical output, has kindly given us this taste of what to expect on the night:
JOHN LEYTON will celebrate 50 years in the music business in 2010. He has enjoyed fantastic commercial success both as a film star and pop singer.
The former includes such classics as "The Great Escape", "Guns At Batasi" and "Von Ryan's Express". In his time John has socialised with the likes of Richard Burton, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson, Steve McQueen, Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley!
For music fans, he was Joe Meek's biggest selling solo artist with such outstanding releases as "Lonely City", "Wild Wind", "Son This Is She" and "Johnny Remember Me".
John has a great stage act. The music is superb and he enhances the performance by relating some wonderful anecdotes from his long career.
MIKE BERRY was Joe Meek's "answer" to Buddy Holly. In 2010, Mike will also be celebrating 50 years in the music business.
A great live performer, his act comprises a mix of R'N'R, 60s Beat classics, Buddy Holly and RGM numbers.
Expect to hear "Peggy Sue", "Rave On", "Tribute To Buddy Holly", "Don't You Think It's Time", "Sunshine Of Your Smile" and lots more from his vast repertoire.
CHARLIE GRACIE was one of the very first USA original R'N'R stars to visit the UK way back in 1957. He's been a regular visitor ever since.
Chart-wise, Charlie scored big hits with "Fabulous", "Wanderin' Eyes" and "Butterfly".
A great performer, a lovely guy and a superb guitarist ... the fabulous Charlie Gracie!Legendary TORNADOS drummer CLEM CATTINI was a doyen of the British Popular Music session scene throughout the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He played on literally thousands of tracks for all manner of artists in every conceivable drumming style. Clem is a remarkably modest man who has frequently described himself as a "musical navvy". Call him a star and he'll likely reply with a wry smile: "No. Stars are those heavenly bodies that shine in the night sky."
Clem's musical credentials go right back to the 1950s. He first hit the big time when he played drums with Johnny Kidd and the Pirates. "Shakin' All Over" was the first No.1 hit that he played on - with the last (to date) being Tony Christie's "Is This The Way To Amarillo" in 2005. No one is absolutely certain (least of all Clem himself) exactly how many No.1 hit records he has played on - but it is certainly at least 46 - which must be an all - time record never likely to be surpassed.

Here are just a few of those No.1s featuring Clem's drumming talents: "It's Not Unusual" - Tom Jones, "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" - The Walker Brothers, " You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" - Dusty Springfield, "Out of Time" - Chris Farlowe, "Green Green Grass of Home" - Tom Jones, "Release Me" - Engelbert Humperdinck, "Everlasting Love" - Love Affair, "Something in the Air" - Thunderclap Newman, "Yellow River" - Christie, "Get It On" - T. Rex, "Grandad" - Clive Dunn, "Kung Fu Fighting" - Carl Douglas, "When Will I See You Again" - The Three Degrees and many, many more!
Clem has worked with numerous acts including The Bee Gees, Lulu, Lou Reed, Sandy Shaw, the LSO, Cliff Richard, the Drifters, Sonny and Cher, Englebert Humperdinck and Roy Orbison. As part of the Top Of The Pops orchestra for 12 years - Clem backed most of the above in the TOTP studio as well as Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Abba and Michael Jackson. Clem turned down an opportunity to join Led Zeppelin on drums!
For Joe Meek fans Clem is beloved/renowned for playing on all of the classic Tornados recordings from "Love And Fury" to "Granada" - including, of course, the immortal "Telstar"
THE FLAMES are a great 60s/Instrumental/R'N'R band in their own right.
The rockin' Flames will perform their own set as well as authentically backing up some of the solo artists in tonight's show.
THE SAINTS, a leading RGM Instrumental group, released some fabulous singles in the early 1960s including "Wipe Out", "Surfin' John Brown" (a USA only release) and "Husky Team".
Drummer Ricky Winter (veteran of many RGM sessions) is the original member from that era.
BOBBY RIO cut several fine singles with Joe Meek during 1964/65. They are now all £50+ collectors' items.
Hopefully RGM fans will once again thrill to "Value For Love", "Boy Meets Girl", "The Other Side Of the Track" and more
THE TRIUMPHS, named after Joe Meek's very own record label, are the UK's only RGM tribute group -- playing both RGM obscurities and hits. The members comprise RGM experts and music writers.
ROBB SHENTON, tonight's compere, recorded with Joe Meek at 304 Holloway Road. Since then he's enjoyed a successful singing career on the cabaret circuit.
Last year he re-recorded his 1980 RGM tribute "Lonely Joe" to great effect. Robb is also the master of the witty "one-liner".
What a fantastic line-up! Great value for money and a show definitely not to be missed!!!

"One of the highlights of my holiday to England was discovering the tiny
but mighty Amersham
Rock 'n' Roll Club to see '60s pop stars John Leyton and
Mike Berry, backed by The Outlaws, featuring Colin Pryce-Jones of London's Rapiers,
my favourite band on the planet. A good crowd filled the cozy venue. I particularly liked the pristine sound
and large dance floor. Not to mention two good bars! I left just short of midnight fully delighted"
-- Greg Ogarrio, San Francisco
See map below for location of Club:
Close to
Amersham Met Tube station and the mainline
from Marylebone, as well as being near the M25 and M40.
FOR THE ATTENTION OF ARTISTS
Artists wishing to perform at the Club are welcome to phone Ralph Gowling on 01494-874916 or write to him at 24 Northdown Road, Chalfont St Peter, Bucks SL9 0LQ.
Please bear in mind:
1) We are a small venue and have a policy of pricing shows as modestly as possible.
2) We wish to cover our costs and maintain the club as a long-term regular and attractive venue for both artists and audiences.
3) We are committed through the shows to raise funds for Iain Rennie Hospice at Home and other local registered charities.
Due to the popularity of the policy in the past, we offer artists an 80-20 split on ticket sales. This motivates both parties to work to ensure success. It is obviously more beneficial to artists who can attract a good or full house.
All our shows comprise three sets with two approximate 20-minute intervals, both to give our audiences good value and to ensure the charity raffle goes smoothly. This means we need two and perhaps three acts on a bill.
